REGISTRATION DEADLINE: SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 29TH 2024!!
Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of initiation. In the Latin Rite (Roman) Catholic Church, this sacrament is typically received during adolescence. Upon receiving it (if it is the final sacrament of initiation), one is considered a Catholic in full communion with the Church.
Confirmation invokes the fullness of the Holy Spirit upon each candidate, asking God to bring to completion the good work that He started in them in baptism (giving them more faith, hope, and love) and also bestowing upon them the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, to aid them in being witnesses to the beauty, truth, and goodness of Christ and His Church.
Confirmation is meant to be a launching point in the lives of those who receive it - to propel them to live their Catholic faith as a faithful witness to the hope that is in them (1 Pet. 3:15). Through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the confirmandi are sent forth to be Christ to and for others, living lives of exemplary virtue, service, and love.
CONFIRMATION GUIDELINES: In the Diocese of Colorado Springs, Baptized Catholics seeking Confirmation must be in 8th Grade and under the age of 18. They are required to complete one full year of sacramental preparation at Saint Joseph. This includes attending Confirmation Class on Sundays and completing all requirements (see attached) to demonstrate their grasp of the Catholic faith and their assent to all it encompasses.
If you are under 18 but passed 8th grade seeking Confirmation, you might consider the OCIA program on Wednesday evenings, beginning in September.
MASS: The Holy Mass is the greatest prayer of God & the greatest thing that any of us can do for our spiritual life. It is the number one requirement of confirmation. This year we are asking families to participate in bringing their child to Mass (see attached below). It's not enough to drop our kids off at class or even Mass. If children do not see their parents practicing, most likely they will not practice themselves as adults. Families attending Mass together is a good for both parents & children.
CONFIRMATION REGISTRATION INFO: Confirmation Class is on Sundays from 12:15pm to 1:45pm in the parish hall. To register, please click on the registration documents below & review the information carefully. Return forms to the parish office along with $30 registration fee.
